We were up early and ate breakfast by 7 and we were off. Breakfast was a large piece of povitca, a local bread we purchased at the bakery, and some yogurt. The weather was cool and nice for walking. We walked a forest track into Austria which was covered in vineyards. A memorial along our path today
We came to a small village after about 10 kilometers where we were able to find coffee which was very good. Then, off we went with an easy but, by now, hot walk. We passed through some wood sections and many fields of corn and sunflowers. The trail markings today were very adequate. But along the way we saw no one. What we did see were gigantic bunnies running through fields, pheasants, an unidentifiable animal, a squirrel that startled Ed and big three-foot high ant hills! We arrived at our accommodations for the night, a very hot yurt and we are hoping tonight will cool off. There is to be six other EPW’ers. We saw the first two of the other walkers around 6:00 p.m. We ate dinner here at the Jufa, a very interesting establishment. Cloud cover and some wind have ushered in some cooler temperatures this evening. Now time for a little rest before day two.
